After two successful seasons under its belt, Out of the Box Opera is back on the scene with a reboot of the wildly popular “Diva Cage Match”.
Not ringing any bells?
Out of the Box Opera was founded in 2017 to explore opera in new and different ways, presenting opera concerts and pop-up performances in unique spaces with extraordinary talent.
While those concerts and performances have taken many forms across Minneapolis, Minnesota and beyond, perhaps the best known is their “Diva Cage Match” series, where performers in full evening dress enter the boxing ring to belt out their operatic best.
Once again, in 2018, for one night only, six world-class sopranos will compete in a sing-off, where one will be crowned the winner by Minneapolis’s own Mayor Jacob Frey.
Check out highlights from last year’s cage-match, catch tickets to this year’s competition (October 20, Upper Cut Boxing Gym in Northeast Minneapolis), and learn more about Out of the Box Opera at the Mill City Times.
