Time for your flu shot and a trip to the theater

Good news for the art world as we head in to cold and flu season: adults who experience art and nature may get a boost to their immune system.

The Telegraph has all the details on the research behind these findings, but two studies from UC Berkeley indicate that young adults who experience positive emotions such as wonder, awe, and amazement have lower levels of cytokine Interleukin 6 (a marker of inflammation) in their “oral mucosal transudate” (i.e., gum and cheek tissue).

Quick translation: there’s growing scientific evidence that experiencing creativity and curiosity can improve your health.
