"Why Making Music Matters"

We keep hearing (and saying) that art and creativity makes us happier and healthier. But how?

In a new study by WolfBrown (in partnership with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Institute of Music), researchers uncover how making live music together can benefit young children and their families.

The report shares what’s at stake during the critical birth-5 year period in a child’s life and how talking, singing, and playing can strengthen brains and bodies; create connections with family members; foster communication and imagination; teach coping skills; build community; and inspire joy and happiness.

Our advice to parents, arts educators, and anyone involved in designing music education programs: download the full report. It’s well-illustrated and well worth the read.
