Rhode Island State Council of Arts (RISCA) invites art leaders to attend a luncheon about Creating Connection which is a national social change movement driven by a goal of making arts, culture, and creativity a more recognized, valued, and expected part of everyday life. The initiative is using a public will building theory of social change to catalyze shifts around the way people support, advocate for, and expect creativity in their lives.
Since it launched in 2015, Creating Connection has undertaken significant national research aimed at understanding what it is that people value in their lives and communities, what motivates people to engage in creative activities. Project leaders are now sharing the findings and recommendations from that research with arts leaders across the country, engaging in conversations around how the arts community can work together to create experiences and messages that align with those values. The full Creating Connection research report, as well as complementary tools designed to help arts organization apply the concepts to their work, are available on www.creatingconnection.org.
